Scouts

The church sponsors the Scouting organisations based in the church hall at St Ignatius, for further details please contact the Rector.

The groups include:

	Squirrels For children aged between 4-6. Squirrels meet and have fun doing lots of various activities which include crafts, making new friends and playing games.
	Beaver Scouts Beaver Scouts are aged 6 –8 years old. Beaver Scouts meet in Colonies and have lots of fun doing different activities which include making things, going on visits, making friends, doing badges and going away for a night on a sleep over.
	Cubs Cub Scouts are aged 8 to 10. They meet in a Cub Pack and have lots of fun. At Cubs you can try lots of fun activities like Camping, going on trips and making things. If you like having lots of fun and adventure with your friends, ask an adult to find out more.
	Scouts The Scout Section is for young people, aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 15 years old. The Scout Troop is the third and final Section in the Scout Group. As a Scout you take part in a wide range of activities as part of your programme. There are a number of Challenge Awards and Activity Badges to earn along the way. Scouts is all about finding out about the world we live in, knowing your own abilities, keeping fit for life and developing creative talents. It’s also important to explore your own values and personal attitudes. Being outdoors is important and there are many opportunities to learn the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, from abseiling to yachting.
	Explorer Scouts Explorer Scouts are a relatively new section designed to replace the old venture scout units. The Scouts are aged between 15 - 18, they are able to decide, along with the rest of the Unit, what they want to do - whether it is powerboating, socialising, hiking or enjoying a trip abroad. They can gain badges such as the Chief Scout's Diamond and Platinum Awards. The highest award to earn is the Queen's Scout Award. This is recognised by many employers as the sign of someone that is enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable.<\h3>
